Why Every Child Should Be Aware Of Their Rights?

If you are a law abiding citizen and wish to make a difference in the lives of people, then why not begin from home? If you are a proud parent of children, a teacher, or are friends with little ones around your neighbourhood, then it is vital to teach them about the rights they are entitled to. Mentioned below are a few reasons why every child should be taught and informed about child rights so that the world is a better place.

Informing kids about their rights develops an understanding -
If you live in a country that is diverse in terms of culture, religion, and linguistics then the most important task would be to bring about more awareness to the notice of a child and let him/her have a broader view of world. This will enable the child to accept tolerance and also strengthen his/her identity.

Help them build social skills -
A solid education helps students and children interact with other citizens of varied cultures which improves their social skills. Educating a child about social justice and human rights will allow them to understand equality and the rights of other communities as well. This will, in turn enable them to bring about respect and empathy in their respective behaviours and also develop listening skills.

Develops understanding -
A basic understanding of child rights and other issues makes a student or a child confident, creative and an informed citizen of the country. Understanding of complex issues is vital for the growth of child into a responsible adult.

Helps in learning -
Bringing about an awareness of the rights of children in classrooms create personal and meaningful connections between a teacher and a student (also a parent and a child). This motivates the child further and brings in a deeper knowledge and understanding life and how to lead it. All this also helps in the reduction of bullying behaviour and how to combat or rise against such behaviour if one is subjected to it.

Empowers children to become active citizens and realise their rights -
This brings about recognition towards one’s own rights and how to stand up for your own self. Teaching children about child rights will definitely help build a socially responsible generation.
