Love - An Emotion Unlike Others!

While scientists continue to probe problems such as cancer and social workers worry themselves sick over global hunger, there are some questions about life and its consequences that have continued to enchant many abstract thinkers and ordinary people, regardless of the scientific value that comes from the answer. One such question has revolved around the meaning of love. Here are the best known ways to explain the emotion and everything associated with it!

The term

The word love means plenty of things to different people. While for some the next closest word is ‘care’ or ‘worry’, for others it may be ‘lust’ or ‘longing’ that connects best to it. The meaning of love can perhaps best be articulated in these words; love is knowing someone inside out; all of their secrets, fears, desires, weaknesses, what maddens them and what makes them falter, and yet choosing to care about their well-being.’

Showing it

In a world where nothing is acknowledged unless you photographed it and hyper-connectivity has blurred lines between authentic and fake, the idea of how to express one’s love is one of the most contentious. Some may show their love for someone in expensive gifts. Others in a physical longing that may be fatherly, motherly or even lustful based on the reciprocation and the standing of the person in question. One of the aspects society prizes most is true love, with the meaning of true love being stated as ‘a point wherein you let the object of your love make their own decisions and find their own happiness without considering how they affect you and your feelings.’

Knowing more

There are countless perspectives on the topic, from books, movies, poems and entire collections of media and literature or music. One can gain an insight into how love is perceived by looking up quotes on love by imminent persons or thinkers. Perhaps one good source is any writer, such as John Steinbeck’s famous letter advising his son about falling in love with a classmate.
So carry on and spread the love!

Saudia Showing How It’s Done!

How’s it going, everyone!

I haven’t gotten around to writing any new blog posts for a while. I have been pretty preoccupied with work and a particularly imminent deal is about to get finalized, meaning that as of this moment, I have seen my boss’ face more than my wife’s in the last couple of weeks.

Anyhow, what really prompted me to write this one up is this constant pondering over a thought-provoking incident that occurred on my last Saudi Airlines flight to the Middle East. It was during a very chaotic period of transit at the busy Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, one of the worst places to get stuck in during Christmas Eve. And that is precisely how my entire ordeal leading up to this incident began.

Evidently, the rush of Christmas and the greed of the festive season’s profits had made airlines overwork their aircraft too much. This surfaced merely two hours before my flight, a Saudi Airlines booking, when some technical damage grounded it, and with it the two hundred or so passengers who were tired, possibly drunk and in no mood to be held up.

With practically tourists from every corner of the world stuck in a glassed confine, things were bound to escalate. Arguments regarding seating and quarrels about the use of one’s business class privilege were just one part of it. Thankfully, Saudi Airline officials quickly pacified us as another flight would be rearranged owing to the high demand.

Once the backup flight did arrive, I had the savage pleasure of seeing supposedly the most civilized tourists, Chinese, Italian, French and South American, push each other around like cattle. However, what struck me out of the park was a sudden parting of the crowd, with the staff escorting all of the pregnant women into the aircraft first. Although one inconsiderate idiot shouted something about using pillows to pass off like that, I think my Saudi Airlines online booking gave me a lesson in putting others first, just like the airline did!
